How can you help?

You are able to support our conservation and community work in many ways. Foremost, by choosing to come and stay with us at our camp in the beautiful Mara North Conservancy and enjoy the amazing wildlife

Karen Blixen Camp strongly believe responsible tourism holds the capacity to protect a natural wildlife area, alleviate poverty through proper working conditions and contribute positively to the local community.

The return from the bed nights is allocated for wages, bed night fee, lease of land and using local suppliers. Your conservation fee secures our monthly lease payment as well as the employment of 30 rangers protecting the Mara North Conservancy.
 

Donations

Should you wish to make a contribution advancing the restoration of natural wildlife areas with planting of trees or assisting the Maasai community with educational or medical funds, we kindly ask you to contact us directly, either at the camp or through email to Katrine Jessen, Project Manager: kj@karenblixencamp.com     

Guests staying at the camp are also encouraged to visit the traditional Maasai village with all proceeds forwarded to the community.
 

Children and education

By 2011 the Danida funding will allow us to offer IT education for the local primary school children. We hope that the education will increase IT literacy with the local community considerably, but also that we are able to open up for virtual internet friendships between our Maasai school children and children from other parts of the world. We invite anyone interested to contact us and learn more about this project. 

By 2011/12 we will establish the Karen Blixen Camp Trust Fund and invite guests or interested to donate funds for the betterment of the local Maasai community. The overall objective is to provide grants allowing the Maasai youth, young men and women alike, to seek college or university education.
 

Mara North Conservancy

Those interested are also able to support the Mara North Conservancy. The conservancy appreciates contributions that allow the purchase of a school bus making the way to school safe for the Maasai children attending Aitong Primary School. Please contact Mara North at info@maranorth.org
