The un-missable Masai Mara, with its exceptional year-round game viewing, balloon safaris, endless ‘Out of Africa' savannahs teeming with game and star-spangled skies are 'romance personified' and ensure an extraordinary and memorable experience. For a never-to-be-forgotten safari honeymoon, to celebrate a wedding anniversary or re-new your wedding vows, Karen Blixen Camp in the Masai Mara is the ideal destination to celebrate these special occasions.
Overlooking the Mara River, Karen Blixen Camp is set in the exclusive and wildlife-rich Mara North Conservancy, also home to the renowned ‘Leopard Gorge'. The Mara North Conservancy is famous for its 5 prides of lions (amounting to over 56 family members), 7 cheetahs and at least 6 leopards which feature in the wildlife documentaries of the BBC Big Cat Diaries, and the National Geographic and Discovery Channels. This makes the area a very rewarding big cat destination, whatever the season.
Being located in the private Mara North Conservancy, which borders the Masai Mara National Reserve and forms the vital north-western zone of the legendary Masai Mara Eco-system, enables Karen Blixen Camp to offer its guests a far more exclusive, unique and private game-viewing experience. Off the beaten track, in open Land Cruisers and with no more than five vehicles per game sighting, the camp's game drives provides guests with plenty of close-up vantage points for those highly-prized wildlife photos. Activities on offer include off-road and night-time game drives, game walks across the undulating plains and romantic gourmet-style bush meals, none of which are possible in the National Reserve.
Karen Blixen Camp comprises 22 large luxury canvas tents each placed with undisturbed views along the Mara River. The stylish restaurant, the reception, the lounge and bar and the gift shop with internet are set on a raised wooden decks and furnished with accurate reproductions of Karen Blixen's private furniture to fit in with the cosy atmosphere. The beautiful laid swimming pool offers relaxation and even a little exercise in-between game drives. Our resident masseuse offers a wide range of wellness and beauty treatments in the recently added bush spa. The camp's intimate setting is the perfect place to sit back and relax with a gin and tonic overlooking the Mara River and the wildlife coming to drink, whilst exchanging stories about the adventures of the day.
